Top Trending Games You Should Be Playing in 2025

Alright listen… top trending games you should be playing in 2025 have me completely messed up right now.

I’m sitting here in my kinda gross gaming corner in the US, January 2026 already somehow, empty Monster cans everywhere, ceiling fan making that weird clicking noise it always does when it’s about to die, and I’m still thinking about how these games basically stole the last 8 months of my life.

Here’s the real ones that actually matter (at least to my dumb ass).

I used to be a “I’ll wait for the Steam sale” guy. Lies. Absolute lies.

These days if something’s popping off in the top trending games 2025 conversations on Discord/Reddit/Twitch chat, I’m weak. I cave instantly. FOMO is real and I am its favorite victim.

Here are the ones that got me good.

1. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (still the most beautiful thing I’ve cried to in 2025)

I don’t even like turn-based RPGs usually. I fall asleep.

But holy hell… the demo dropped, then the full release, and next thing I know I’m ugly-crying at 4:37am because a watercolor boss said something poetic about dying.

The music. The art direction. The way combat feels like a rhythm game had a baby with Persona and then did shrooms.

I’m still not over it.

Here’s how stupidly pretty it is:

Okay continuing because I got carried away and forgot to breathe…

Here’s how stupidly pretty Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 actually is (I’m still recovering):

Imagine the most gorgeous watercolor painting you’ve ever seen… but it’s trying to murder you in turn-based combat. Yeah.

(Just picture it: swirling pastel skies, characters with flowing capes, a giant clock tower weeping paint, and you’re panic-dodging in real time while crying about the lore. Peak 2025 vibes.)

2. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach – I’m still mad it’s so good

Kojima did it again. I hate him. I love him. I’m 47 hours in and I’ve delivered maybe 3 packages because I keep staring at the scenery and taking 400 photos.

The beaches are cursed, the puppets are creepy, the music slaps harder than it has any right to, and every time Norman Reedus cries I feel personally attacked.

If you liked the first one even a little… just go buy it. Don’t think.

And yeah the trailers still give me chills every time.

3. Schedule 1 / Split Fiction (the co-op indie darling that broke my friendship)

Me and my best friend tried this “fun little co-op puzzle platformer” at 2 a.m.

Twelve hours later we were screaming at each other about whose fault it was that we both fell into the void dimension for the 38th time.

It’s chaotic. The art is gross-cute. The writing is unhinged. The puzzles make you hate physics.

We’re still not speaking but I’d do it again tomorrow.

  • Monster Hunter Wilds – I’ve killed the same monster 62 times and I’m still not bored. Help.
  • Doom: The Dark Ages – Medieval chainsaw shield. I need say nothing else.
  • Avowed → Obsidian made me care about fantasy again. I’m mad about it.
  • South of Midnight → Southern Gothic meets Studio Ghibli. I sobbed.
  • Blue Prince → the roguelike puzzle house game that makes my brain hurt in the best way

Look… I know 2025 was stacked. I know I missed some bangers. I know my sleep schedule is in shambles and my electric bill is concerning.

But these top trending games you should be playing in 2025 (yes I’m still saying it) are the ones that actually got under my skin.

Which ones are you obsessed with right now? Tell me I’m not the only degenerate still grinding at dawn in 2026.
