it’s literally 1:42 pm here and i’m still in yesterday’s hoodie, there’s coffee rings on like three different surfaces, and i’m about to tell you about some underrated streaming movies that have been quietly ruining my life in the best way possible for the past few months.
i feel personally attacked that more people aren’t talking about these. like i was out here thinking i was special for finding them and then i realized i’m just late to the party as usual lol.
1. Aftersun (still somehow underrated in 2026??)
watched this at like 4am last tuesday because i couldn’t sleep and my god. i was not ready. paul mescal trying so hard to be a good dad while clearly falling apart inside… and the little girl just living her best vacation life not knowing it’s the last one. Underrated Streaming Movies the ending (or like… non-ending) had me staring at the ceiling for twenty minutes. i think i forgot how to blink.

2. The Worst Person in the World
this movie gets me. like it understands every dumb impulsive decision i made between 22–29. renate reinsve is so messy and charming and horny and sad and i felt seen in the worst way possible. Underrated Streaming Movies also the chapter titles and the colors and the sex scenes that aren’t sexy in a hollywood way but real awkward human way… chef’s kiss.

3. Drive My Car
yes it’s almost 3 hours. yes i cried in the car scene with the red saab. yes i made my roommate watch the last 40 minutes with me and he was like “bro are you okay” it’s about grief and theater and translating japanese and a very patient young driver and ugh it’s so good it hurts.

4. The Green Knight
dev patel in medieval armor slowly going insane while a fox talks shit to him is the energy i didn’t know i needed. the colors are insane, the pacing is glacial in the best way, and there’s this horny haunted vibe that just… lives in my head rent free.

5. Petite Maman
72 minutes. that’s it. and i was full-on ugly crying by the end. a little girl meets another little girl in the woods who turns out to be… her mom? as a kid? they just build a stick hut and talk about life. Underrated Streaming Movies it’s the softest, saddest, most beautiful thing about mothers and daughters i’ve ever seen.

look. i’m not saying these are the ONLY hidden gem films on streaming worth your time. but they’re the ones that have been living in my brain for weeks and i’m lowkey mad at everyone who’s sleeping on them.
